 DANIEL STRANDED DUE TO TRAVEL CHAOS!Daniel was in Tenerife when all flights where cancelled due to the ash from the Icelandic volcano eruption, which caused major air travel chaos throughout the World. Majella has posted the following message on Daniel's website, as many of you were concerned about how he was going to return to the UK from Tenerife for his UK tour, which commences this Friday 23rd April 2010. Hi there Hope you are all well. The whole of Europe seems to be upside down at the moment after the Icelandic Volcano. Daniel starts his UK tour on friday and there are no flights from Tenerife for the forseeable future. Last night he decided to take the only available flight from Tenerife which was to Madrid in Mainland Spain. The idea was to get a train up through Spain into France and get a ferry to the UK or Ireland. He phoned me this morning to tell me that all the trains are ON STRIKE in Spain and France! Can you believe that?!! The next option was to hire a car and drive through Spain and France but they won't let him take the car out of Spain! The first available space on a ferry from France to the UK is on Wednesday which he is hoping to get. Just imagine, he is leaving Tenerife on Saturday night to get to the UK for Friday!! You don't realise how convenient planes are until you don't have them. Anyway, I'm sure he will get there eventually!! Sean Reilly, his manager and his wife are with him so he is not alone. They had come over for my 50th birthday celebrations but they were meant to leave last Thursday!! Oh boy, what a mess. We had a wonderful time here in Tenerife with lots of friends and my family around. We has a party in our house on my birthday with everything set outdoors. Would you believe half way through the evening it poured and poured with rain!! Everyone had to squeeze into the house but it did create a very friendly athmosphere and we had a night of great music and singing. Thats definately it now! No more 50th birthay celebrations. I am well and truely there!! Thank you so much to everyone that sent me cards and gifts. They were much appreciated. I still have not seen them all because I have not been in Donegal yet. Well thats it for now. I will keep you informed as to whats happening with Daniels travels. Thankfully, we have a friend in Madrid who is helping Daniel with arragements at the moment. Take care.
