DVD.1 'THE ISLAND' is a unique journey through the historical landscape of Ireland, filmed entirely from the air.  
Flying above the land and across the centuries, we see how Water, Earth and Stone have shaped the history and formed the character of 'The Island'. Many of the dramatic locations have never been seen before on television. Featured are tombs older then the pyramids, starling medieval castles and mysterious 5000 year-old stone circles. Also included in this special edition of the TV series, are new aerial pictures of high sea-cliffs, deep valleys and remote mountains. but over the time the natural landscape has evolved, and been transformed with the growth of mordern towns and cities.  
Accompanying the beautiful images is an original music score, composed by Brian Byrne and performed by the RTE concert ochestra. Narration by Cathal O'Shannon.  
 
DVD.2 VISIONS OF IRELAND reveals all its “forty shades of green” following an itinerary from Sligo to Belfast to Galway to Dublin that  
explores timeless country glens, abundant fishing ports, the famous golf courses of counties Kerry and Cork, and more.  
Rich narration gives context for the stunning high definition aerial and ground views of this little island of grand historical significance, all set to a soundtrack that includes the fiddles and pipes of traditional jigs and reels and modern Celtic rock.
